IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for 14 Telangana Districts on June 28

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for 14 districts in Telangana, effective Sunday, June 28, 2026. The alert is based on the latest meteorological analysis indicating the likelihood of heavy precipitation at isolated locations.

According to the IMD bulletin, the districts expected to experience heavy rainfall include Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, and Nagarkurnool. In addition, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely to occur at isolated places across all 33 districts of the state.

For Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, the forecast for the next 24 hours indicates a generally cloudy sky. The bulletin states: 'Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with heavy spells at one or two places accompanied with gusty winds are very likely to occur in the city towards evening or night.' The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 30°C and 22°C, respectively.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions, such as staying indoors during thunderstorms and avoiding low-lying areas prone to waterlogging. The IMD continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
