IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for 11 Telangana Districts on July 1

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall for 11 districts in Telangana on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The alert covers Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Medak, and Kamareddy districts.

According to the IMD bulletin, isolated places in these districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected at isolated locations across all 33 districts of the state. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, especially in low-lying areas prone to waterlogging.

For Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, the weather is expected to be generally cloudy over the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, with heavy spells at one or two places, are likely to occur towards the night. Gusty winds may accompany the showers. The maximum and minimum temperatures are forecast to be around 33°C and 25°C, respectively.

The IMD has urged people to stay indoors during thunderstorms and avoid sheltering under trees or open structures. Farmers are advised to postpone agricultural activities if rain is predicted in their area. Authorities have been alerted to ensure preparedness for possible drainage congestion and traffic disruptions.

This forecast is part of the monsoon season, which typically brings significant rainfall to Telangana from June to September. The state has received near-normal rainfall so far this season, and this alert aims to minimize risks associated with heavy downpours.
