Hyderabad Customs Seizes 2.27 kg Gold Worth ₹3.36 Crore at RGIA

Officials of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Hyderabad Customs seized approximately 2.271 kg of 24-carat gold valued at ₹3.36 crore from two passengers at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).

The two Indian nationals arrived from Kuala Lumpur and were intercepted during routine checks. Upon detailed frisking and examination, customs officers discovered gold concealed in paste form inside specially stitched pouches wrapped with white cellophane tape. The pouches were hidden along the waistline of the passengers' trousers in an attempt to evade detection.

The suspected contraband was extracted with the assistance of a goldsmith and subsequently tested, confirming the yellow metal was 24-carat gold. The two passengers were arrested under relevant provisions of the Customs Act.

This seizure underscores the ongoing efforts of Hyderabad Customs to curb gold smuggling through the airport.
