Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi Granted Six-Month Extension Till December 2025

The Union government has approved a six-month extension in service for Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, following a recommendation from the state government. The 1990-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer will now continue in his role until December 31, 2025.

This marks the second extension for Rastogi, who was originally due to retire on June 30, 2025. His previous extension, granted last year, allowed him to serve until June 30, 2025. The fresh extension takes effect from July 1, 2025.

The decision was conveyed through a communication from the Union Ministry of Personnel. It stated: “On the proposal of the Haryana government dated June 8, 2025 regarding extension of service of Rastogi, the Centre has approved it for a period of six months from July 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025 in relaxation of Rule 16 (1) of AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958 by invoking Rule 3 of AIS (CS-RM) Rules, 1960.”

Rastogi, a senior bureaucrat, has held key positions in the Haryana government. The extension allows continuity in the state's administrative leadership during a critical period.
