Gurugram court, mini secretariat get bomb threat; security stepped up
The District and Sessions Court and the Mini Secretariat in Gurugram received bomb threats via email on Friday (July 31, 2026), prompting authorities to suspend court proceedings and conduct thorough security checks, police said.
The emails were sent to the official IDs of the District Bar Association, the Gurugram deputy commissioner, and other officials. Upon receiving the alerts, police, security agencies, bomb detection squads, and dog squads were deployed to both locations.
Security personnel carried out extensive searches across the premises. Visitor movement was closely monitored, and advocates, staff, and litigants were asked to leave the court complex as a precautionary measure. All judicial work remained suspended for the day.
The District Bar Association issued a statement confirming the suspension of work and urged all lawyers to vacate the premises immediately. The association also requested the District and Sessions Judge to reschedule all cases listed for the day and assign fresh dates.
District Bar Association Secretary Rahul Dhankhar appealed to members to cooperate with the administration and disregard rumours.
Police said they are working to identify the sender of the email and ascertain whether the threat was genuine. Officials added that similar threat emails were also sent to some schools in the city, though no suspicious objects have been found so far.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and report any suspicious activity. The investigation is ongoing.
