Green Light: Piduguralla Medical College to admit 100 MBBS students from 2026-27

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted approval for the admission of 100 MBBS students to the Government Medical College at Piduguralla from the 2026-27 academic year.

The approval came through a Letter of Permission issued by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019. This enables the college to commence admissions with an annual intake of 100 students.

Palnadu District Collector K. Kritika Shukla welcomed the development, stating that it would significantly strengthen medical education infrastructure in the district and improve access to quality healthcare in the region. She described the sanction of 100 MBBS seats as a proud achievement for Palnadu and a major step towards producing skilled medical professionals.

The Collector noted that the State government and district administration worked in close coordination to ensure that the institution met the stringent standards prescribed by the NMC. Priority was given to expediting the construction of college buildings, strengthening the attached teaching hospital, creating essential infrastructure, recruiting qualified faculty, installing modern medical equipment, and enhancing teaching standards. Continuous reviews were conducted to ensure compliance with every NMC guideline.

Ms. Shukla said the teaching hospital attached to the college has been equipped with facilities required to provide comprehensive clinical training to students. She expressed confidence that the institution would not only impart quality medical education but also strengthen healthcare services for people in Palnadu and neighbouring districts.

The district administration, in coordination with the State government, will continue efforts to maintain NMC standards and ensure the successful functioning of the medical college, she added.
