Government Agrees to Talks with Protest Group at Neutral Venue on July 24

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced on Friday that the government has agreed to their request for a meeting at a neutral venue. The talks are scheduled for July 24, 2026, at the Constitution Club of India. The development follows the end of activist Sonam Wangchuk's 26-day hunger strike, which concluded in the presence of Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh at Medanat Hospital.

CJP Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das confirmed the arrangement, stating, 'Tomorrow (July 24), a discussion has been called for. We are very happy that the government has agreed to our request that it be at a neutral venue. The Constitution Club of India has been chosen.'

The party has reiterated its core demands, which include the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, compensation for families of affected individuals, and the withdrawal of all First Information Reports (FIRs) against innocent protesters. CJP spokesperson Vaishnavi Gaur said, 'The government has agreed to meet us at a neutral place. We will be putting our demands, which we have been consistent with from the first day: Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, compensation for the families, and lifting all FIRs on innocent protesters.'

CJP activist Abhijeet Dipke praised Sonam Wangchuk's decision to end his hunger strike, describing his life as 'far too precious to this country.' In a post on X, Dipke said, 'We are relieved and grateful that Sonam sir has ended his hunger strike after 26 days. Thank you, sir, for your extraordinary courage and sacrifice. By putting your own life on the line, you awakened the conscience of an entire nation. Your life is far too precious to this country.'

The talks mark a significant step in addressing the demands of the protest group, which has been seeking the minister's resignation over alleged policy failures. The government's willingness to negotiate at a neutral venue is seen as a gesture toward resolving the impasse.
