Food Safety Inspections Reveal Hygiene Violations at Zomato Hyperpure, Hyderabad Restaurant
The food safety teams of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) conducted inspections at Zomato Hyperpure Private Limited in IDA Kukatpally, Hyderabad, on June 25, 2026, uncovering multiple violations related to food safety and hygiene.
During the inspection, officials seized and disposed of 78 expired packets of Kitchen King masala and expired pizza sauce. They also identified poor storage and sanitation practices. Samples of peanuts, dal, cumin, and ghee were collected for laboratory analysis.
The inspection revealed that food and non-food items were stored together, vegetarian and non-vegetarian products were kept in the same freezer, and storage trays and the poultry chiller were unhygienic. Additionally, officials observed flies near the vegetable segregation area, along with food spillages and leakages within the facility.
In a separate inspection at The Food Planet in Chandanagar, the teams found greasy exhaust systems, ceilings, and pipelines due to poor cleaning. Expired raw mutton and unlabeled curd were discarded on the spot.
The restaurant was also found lacking mandatory records related to the medical fitness of food handlers, pest control, water quality testing, and food packaging. Refrigerators used for storing non-vegetarian food were not maintained properly, houseflies were observed in the kitchen, worn-out chopping boards and iron knives were in use, and food handlers did not wear aprons and had untrimmed nails. Officials also found food waste accumulated in drains, creating unhygienic conditions. The teams directed the restaurant to improve hygiene standards and maintain proper food labeling.
