Cyberabad Security Council completes 20 years of police-industry partnership
The Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), a collaborative forum of police, industry and community stakeholders, marked its 20th anniversary on Sunday at AVASA Hotel in HITEC City, Hyderabad. The event, themed 'Celebrating Two Decades of Trustworthy Partnership, Security & Growth', commemorated the organisation's formal establishment on August 23, 2006.
During the programme, the SCSC@20 logo was unveiled and a commemorative book titled 'Enabling Enterprise – 2 Decades of SCSC' was launched. The council, which works on safety and security issues affecting the technology sector, has evolved significantly since its inception.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh said the safety of IT professionals and the wider technology community remains a key priority for the police. He credited SCSC with strengthening the public-private partnership over the past two decades, noting that close coordination during challenging periods, including the Telangana movement and the COVID-19 pandemic, helped address security, operational and community-related issues. 'The partnership has evolved from responding to problems to developing proactive solutions to emerging challenges,' he said.
Former SCSC Secretary General Krishna Yedula recalled the organisation's early days, explaining that it emerged from discussions between police and industry leaders on creating a safe environment for the rapidly growing technology sector. Those consultations on industry concerns and standard operating procedures eventually led to SCSC's formal establishment in 2006.
The anniversary event featured four panel discussions covering key areas of public safety and well-being. The first panel focused on safer spaces for women, children and the next generation, with participants including Cyberabad Municipal Commissioner G. Srijana, Cyberabad Traffic DCP Sheshadrini Reddy, SCSC Joint Secretary for Children and Youth Safety Vanitha Datla, and Tanuja Abburi of Lloyds Technology Centre.
A second panel examined cybercrime prevention, digital evidence and community resilience. Among the speakers were Kalmeswar Shingenavar, Deputy Director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy; Cyberabad DCP Kukatpally Riti Raj; SCSC Joint Secretary for Cyber Security Ragu Kannan; and TCS Hyderabad Center Head Nageshwar Rao Challa.
The third panel discussed road safety, covering enforcement, driver education, infrastructure and technology. It included Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sunpreet Singh, SCSC executive committee member Sharwan Kumar Gone, Topdriver Education founder Naresh Raghavan, and automobile dealer Y. Suresh Reddy.
The fourth panel addressed preventive healthcare, fitness, nutrition and community action, with DCP Serilingampally Ch. Srinivas, SCSC Joint Secretary for Healthcare Chinnababu, Hyderabad Runners founder Rajesh Vetcha, and Nutriful You founder Lahari Surapaneni participating.
DGP C.V. Anand, who earlier served as Cyberabad Commissioner, congratulated SCSC in a message. He said effective police-public engagement requires the active participation of citizens and private organisations. He recalled initiatives such as 'She Shuttles' for women's safety and 'Chaitanya' for students' education, noting that he had worked during his tenure to revitalise the council and strengthen its role in public safety.
The programme concluded with the felicitation of panellists and participants by Dr. Ramesh, followed by a vote of thanks from SCSC CEO Naved Alam Khan, who also hosted the event.
