CWG 2022 silver medallist Tulika Maan suspended for whereabouts failures, out of Glasgow 2026
Indian judoka Tulika Maan, who won a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, has been provisionally suspended by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for three whereabouts failures in the past 12 months. As a result, she has been withdrawn from the Indian contingent for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
According to the Press Trust of India, Maan recorded three whereabouts failures — a combination of filing failures and missed tests — within a 12-month period. Under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules, any such combination of three failures in a year constitutes an anti-doping rule violation.
This is the second setback for the Indian judo team for the Glasgow Games, after Arun Kumar was also suspended by NADA for similar reasons. The whereabouts rule requires athletes to provide accurate information about their location for out-of-competition testing. Failure to comply can lead to sanctions, including provisional suspension.
Maan's suspension highlights the importance of strict adherence to anti-doping regulations, which aim to ensure fair play and clean sport. The NADA's action is consistent with international protocols to maintain the integrity of competitive sports.
