Cocktail 2 Earns Rs 76.25 Crore Worldwide in Opening Weekend
Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna's romantic comedy-drama Cocktail 2 has collected Rs 76.25 crore worldwide in its first three days, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film, directed by Homi Adajania, registered a net domestic collection of Rs 47.50 crore as of Sunday, June 21, with a gross of Rs 57 crore in India.
On Sunday, the film earned an estimated Rs 17.75 crore net in India across 10,462 shows, with an overall occupancy of 29 percent in the Hindi market. Overseas, the film added Rs 4 crore, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 19.25 crore.
Despite mixed reviews, the film has shown resilience at the box office. Critics noted a conservative undertone in its portrayal of relationships. In her review for SCREEN, Shubhra Gupta wrote, 'There’s no getting past the conservatism which comes wrapped in this pyaar ka punchnama: for all its modern vibe, it’s the guy who gets the last word.'
With a reported budget of Rs 150 crore, the film is still far from its break-even point. Upcoming releases like Welcome to the Jungle (June 26) and Alpha (July 3) may impact its performance in the coming weeks.
Cocktail 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2012 film Cocktail, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty. It follows a love triangle involving the three lead characters.
