Cockroach Janta Party to March in Delhi on Sept 5, Three Demands Unmet

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has reiterated its plan to hold a march in Delhi on September 5, stating that three of the four demands that led it to withdraw its earlier protest on July 25 remain unfulfilled. The party made the announcement in a post on X, saying it had called off the protest last month after receiving assurances that all four demands would be met.

The pending demands include compensation for families of students, withdrawal of First Information Reports (FIRs) and assurance of no action against student protesters, and an apology from the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Delhi Police. The party did not specify the fourth demand in its latest statement, but it was among the assurances reportedly given by the government during talks on July 25.

In its post, CJP referred to an archive titled "Black Monday Record," which it said documents the crackdown on protesters, including the use of batons, tear gas, and pellet guns, as well as alleged assaults by unbadged personnel. The party also claimed the archive lists 11 unanswered questions raised as part of its demand for accountability. "With each passing day, these questions become harder to ignore and the demand for answers grows stronger," the party said.

The planned march is scheduled to begin at India Gate and proceed towards the New Delhi Police Headquarters. The organisation said the march would be led by families of deceased National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) aspirants and victims of alleged police brutality, with students, youth organisations, and young citizens expected to join.

Earlier, CJP had announced the resumption of mobilisation following what it described as a review of commitments allegedly made by the government on July 25. The party had withdrawn its nationwide student protest after talks with Union Ministers J P Nadda and Jitendra Singh. However, it now alleges that the government has delayed action on its assurances, particularly regarding the withdrawal of FIRs against students and protesters.

The CJP also referred to Supreme Court proceedings, noting that the court on August 18 sought a list of FIRs registered across the country to consider addressing them together. The Supreme Court has since directed states to release eligible students detained during the protests and barred coercive action against students for the time being.

Responding to the post, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka wrote on X: "We will not hold back. You might have the govt, the country is ours. Keep your words. Accept our demands. Or this Sept 5, be ready for Cockroaches!"

The party has described the September 5 mobilisation as a peaceful protest march and urged students, youth organisations, and young citizens to gather at India Gate. CJP had earlier led a 37-day protest at Jantar Mantar over the NEET-UG paper leak, alongside activist Sonam Wangchuk's 26-day hunger strike.

On July 25, CJP announced the withdrawal of its protest and asked demonstrators to return home peacefully, citing the government's acceptance of its demands. The party's founder, Abhijeet Dipke, has been a prominent voice in the student protests, with the group's name drawing attention for its satirical undertone.
