Case Filed Against TVK MLA for Alleged Assault on Journalist in Sholinghur
The Sholinghur police in Ranipet district have registered a criminal case against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA Kapil following allegations that he assaulted a journalist, snatched his mobile phone, deleted video recordings, and issued death threats. The case was registered based on a statement given by T. Aranganathan, a 50-year-old journalist from Sholinghur, who is currently undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the alleged attack. According to the complaint, the MLA and several of his associates were involved in the incident.
The police have invoked Sections 296(b), 115(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the MLA and the named associates. These provisions relate to voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, and wrongful restraint or confinement, respectively.
