BSNL Waives Installation Charges for FTTH Internet in Rural Mysuru Region

State-owned telecommunications company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced a programme to waive installation charges for its Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) internet connections in rural areas falling under its Mysuru Business Area.

According to a statement, BSNL will provide Wi-Fi routers (CPE/ONT) and optical fibre cables completely free of cost under the BharatNet project. No installation charges will be levied. Customers, however, will have to pay a monthly subscription fee.

The scheme is applicable only to customers in rural areas that come under the limits of Gram Panchayats, said a BSNL official in the Mysuru Business Area, which covers Mysuru and the adjoining districts of Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, and Mandya.

The offer is valid for the next 60 days in BSNL's Mysuru Telecom District. It is part of the Government of India's Department of Telecommunications' Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) initiative, which aims to empower rural areas by providing free FTTH internet installations in villages and promote rural employment opportunities.

BSNL has introduced a special rural broadband plan priced at ₹259 per month for customers opting for the scheme. The plan offers 700 GB of data at 25 Mbps speed, unlimited voice calls, and access to free channels on Prasar Bharati TV, Waves App, and BSNL-Skypro IFTV.

Additionally, rural youth can partner with BSNL as BharatNet Udyamis (BNUs) to earn income by providing internet services in villages. Interested individuals may contact their nearest BSNL Customer Service Centre.
