BSNL Madurai invites bids to appoint franchisees for 4G SIM sales
State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has floated a tender to appoint new business partners and franchisees for selling SIM cards and recharge services in the Madurai business area. The move is aimed at expanding its customer base, especially in the southern Tamil Nadu region.
According to a statement from P. Loganathan, Principal General Manager of BSNL Madurai Business Area, the company has installed 573 4G mobile network towers in Madurai, 250 in Karaikudi, and 178 in Virudhunagar. With the expansion of 4G services at affordable tariffs, the number of mobile users has been steadily increasing, the statement said.
To further strengthen its reach, BSNL has decided to appoint new franchisees who can distribute SIM cards and facilitate recharges. The applications are open to distributors with a strong retail network in telecommunications, FMCG, electronics, or electrical appliances sectors. Existing authorised BSNL SIM card dealers and franchisees are also eligible to apply.
Interested applicants can download the Expression of Interest (EOI) documents from the official tender portals: tender.bsnl.co.in or etenders.gov.in. The last date for submission of applications is 3 p.m. on August 17, as per the tender notice.
For further information, applicants can contact the following phone numbers: 9486100449, 9486103825, and 9486101645.
This tender comes at a time when BSNL is aggressively expanding its 4G network across India, including rural and semi-urban areas. By partnering with local franchisees, the company aims to improve last-mile connectivity and make its services more accessible to customers. The move is also expected to create entrepreneurial opportunities for small businesses in the region.
BSNL has been focusing on enhancing its retail presence through partnerships, particularly in regions where private telecom operators have a strong foothold. The selection of franchisees will be based on criteria outlined in the EOI document, which includes the applicant's retail network strength and prior experience in distribution.
The tender process is open and transparent, with all documents available online. BSNL has encouraged eligible candidates to participate in the bidding process, which is part of the company's broader strategy to increase its market share in the telecom sector.
