Bihar CM Transfers Over ₹1,423 Crore to Nearly 98 Lakh Social Security Pensioners
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Friday (July 10, 2026) transferred ₹1,423.94 crore via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of 97.84 lakh social security pensioners. The transfer, conducted from his official residence Lok Sevak Awas, covered payments for June 2026 under three state pension schemes and for May and June 2026 under three National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) schemes.
District Magistrates and pensioners participated in the event via video conferencing. The Chief Minister announced that no eligible person would be left out of the pension schemes and that a special drive would be conducted to enroll previously missed beneficiaries.
Mr. Choudhary declared that the 10th of every month would be observed as 'Bihar Pension Day' to ensure timely DBT payments to all eligible pensioners. He directed officials to hold campaigns during 'Sahyog Shivir' and 'Panchayat Vikas Diwas' events to identify and enrol remaining eligible individuals.
The Chief Minister stated that Aadhaar cards of pensioners not yet linked should be linked promptly to facilitate seamless transfers. He emphasized that the government’s objective is to strengthen dignity, security, and self-confidence among needy citizens, noting that the social security pension amount had been raised from ₹400 to ₹1,100 per month.
He credited former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for effective implementation of social security schemes and highlighted the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in prioritising welfare for the poor, elderly, disabled, and marginalised sections.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Social Welfare Department Minister Dr. Shweta Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, and Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit.
