Bihar Cabinet Approves 22,891 Anganwadi Posts, New Courts, e-Cabinet
The Bihar cabinet on Wednesday approved the “Anganwadi Worker/Helper Selection Guidelines- 2026” to fill 22,891 vacant posts under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS). The decision was among 24 taken at the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
The vacancies include 6,141 posts of Anganwadi Workers and 16,750 posts of Anganwadi Helpers, according to Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat Department. He told reporters after the meeting that the guidelines will initiate the process to fill these posts across the state.
Under the ICDS scheme, children up to six years of age, pregnant women, lactating mothers and other beneficiaries receive supplementary nutrition, pre-school education, health check-ups, referral services, immunisation, and nutrition and health education through Anganwadi centres. The filling of these vacancies is expected to strengthen grassroots-level child development services.
The cabinet also approved the creation of one post each of District and Additional Sessions Judge in 19 judgeships, totalling 19 posts, for Exclusive Special Courts set up under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. The judgeships include West Champaran (Bettiah), Madhubani, Bhojpur (Ara), Siwan, Araria, Supaul, Khagaria, Jehanabad, Buxar, Jamui, Kaimur, Katihar, Sitamarhi, Munger, Madhepura, Banka, Sheikhpura, Aurangabad and Lakhisarai.
Additionally, the cabinet approved the creation of three posts of District and Additional Sessions Judges for two additional special courts in Patna and one in Muzaffarpur.
In another significant decision, the cabinet gave its approval for the implementation of the e-Cabinet system in the state. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has been selected for this work on a nomination basis. Mr Chaudhary said this will create a secure, digital, paperless environment, leading to savings in administrative time, operational costs and human effort, while promoting a faster and more transparent governance workflow.
The cabinet also approved the Bihar Registration (Amendment) Rules, 2026, which will provide the facility of home registration of land, plots and flats through a Mobile Registration Unit to senior citizens aged 75 years or above. Earlier, this facility was available only to those aged 80 years or above. Chief Minister Choudhary had announced the extension on July 11, 2026, while launching the paperless registration facility.
Under the Bihar State Vegetable Processing and Marketing Scheme, the cabinet approved a scheme worth ₹106.39 crore for strengthening and expansion of Vegfed’s three-tier cooperative structure. The plan includes construction of block-level basic infrastructure, provision of working capital for cooperative societies, and development of reefer vehicles.
In infrastructure, the cabinet gave administrative approval for two high-level RCC bridge projects on NH-333A in Jamui district. A new bridge at Nariyana Ghat over Kiul River at the 72nd km of Khaira-Sono Road will be built for ₹93.82 crore. Another bridge at Mangobandar over Suknar River at the 80th km of the same road will cost ₹55.96 crore.
Separately, Chief Minister Choudhary announced that the Education Department has sent a requisition to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) for appointment of 32,388 teachers under TRE-4.
