Bengaluru PG owner dies after cricket bat assault; two college students held
A 37-year-old paying guest (PG) accommodation owner in Bengaluru died after being allegedly assaulted with a cricket bat by two college students, following an argument over the use of tap water. The police have arrested the two students.
The deceased has been identified as Madhav Matle, owner of Laxmi Narasimha PG on Kasturinagar Main Road. The accused are Rakesh, 21, a final-year BCom student, and Don Brite Son, 20, a first-year BBA student. According to the police, neither of the accused was a resident of the PG.
The incident occurred between 6 pm and 6.30 pm on Tuesday, in front of the PG premises. Preliminary investigations suggest that the duo used a tap inside the PG to wash their legs after consuming alcohol. Matle allegedly objected to their action, leading to a heated argument. The argument escalated, and the students allegedly assaulted Matle with a cricket bat. Matle sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter further. The accused have been taken into custody and are being questioned.
