Bengaluru Man Stabs Woman to Death After She Refuses Marriage Proposal Over His Criminal Past

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident that highlights the dangers of rejection in relationships, a 23-year-old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her boyfriend after she turned down his marriage proposal. The woman's family had opposed the marriage due to the accused's criminal background.

The incident took place around 8.30 p.m. on June 26 on Pipeline Road in the Mahalakshmi Layout police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Anjali, 23. The accused, Rajeev, was arrested soon after the incident.

According to police, Anjali and Rajeev had known each other for nearly four years and were colleagues in a relationship. Their families were aware of the relationship. However, Anjali's family opposed the marriage because Rajeev has a criminal record, with three cases against him. Respecting her family's decision, Anjali had begun distancing herself from Rajeev, but he continued to pressure her to marry him.

On June 26 evening, Rajeev allegedly invited Anjali for dinner. During the meeting, the marriage issue resurfaced, leading to an argument. When Anjali again refused, Rajeev allegedly stabbed her in the neck with a knife.

Local residents rushed Anjali to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The Mahalakshmi Layout police arrested Rajeev and registered a case. Further investigation is underway.

In a separate incident, the body of a 40-year-old woman was found under suspicious circumstances in her rented room in Hongasandra. The woman, Krishna Barman, a cook from West Bengal, was found dead after neighbours alerted police. Police suspect she may have been smothered, and investigations are ongoing.
