Bengaluru Daycare Under Investigation for Alleged Child Mistreatment
A daycare centre operating within the Capgemini campus in Bengaluru's HAL area is under investigation after allegations emerged that caregivers subjected toddlers to abusive treatment. The incident came to light after videos appearing to show the mistreatment circulated on social media.
Police have filed a case against five women caregivers at the facility. According to officials, the alleged punishments included making children aged two to three sit inside a front-loading washing machine, spraying water into their mouths using a toilet jet, and locking them in bathrooms. The accused are reported to have used these methods to silence crying children.
A complaint has also been lodged with the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Authorities are investigating the matter, and Capgemini has stated it is cooperating fully with the probe. The company has temporarily closed the daycare facility as a precautionary measure.
In a statement, Capgemini said, “Capgemini’s foremost priority is the health, safety and well-being of its employees and their families. We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities and assisting them in their efforts to establish the facts. As a precautionary measure, we are temporarily closing the Bengaluru on-campus daycare facility.”
The allegations have raised serious concerns among parents and the wider public about the safety and regulation of childcare facilities, especially those located inside corporate campuses. Many parents had entrusted their children to the daycare while they worked at the IT company. The case highlights the need for stringent oversight and monitoring of such centres to ensure the safety of children.
Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward. The investigation is ongoing.
