Baramulla Raids Under UAPA: Police Seize Phones, Laptops in Investigation

Police carried out searches at multiple locations in Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), officials said.

The raids were conducted in connection with a case registered under Section 13 of the UAPA (unlawful activities) and Section 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (aggravated threats) at Baramulla police station, according to a police spokesperson.

The searches targeted the residences of four individuals: Faraz Ashraf Gojri (Iqbal Colony), Waseem Ali Kar (Kanli Bagh), Tanveer Ahmad Mir alias Kaka Mir (Tawheed Gunj, presently residing at Gulnar Park, Azad Gunj), and Waseem Hussain Mir (Khawajabagh Jetty, Baramulla).

During the searches, police seized four mobile phones and one laptop. The electronic devices have been secured for forensic examination to aid the investigation.

The police spokesperson emphasised that the searches were conducted in accordance with legal provisions, in the presence of executive magistrates and independent witnesses. The proceedings are part of Baramulla Police's efforts to investigate offences related to unlawful activities in a professional, lawful, and transparent manner while safeguarding public order and national security.
