Bank of India disburses ₹117 crore in loans on Kisan Diwas

The Bank of India's Visakhapatnam Zone marked 'Kisan Diwas 2026' on July 19, an annual event coinciding with the bank's nationalisation day. The celebration took place across Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, and Tadepalligudem, as announced by S. Suresh, zonal in-charge (marketing) of the bank, on Wednesday.

Mr. Suresh stated that the response was positive and overall business surpassed the previous year's figures. Established in 1906, the 120-year-old financial institution remains a key player among India's major commercial banks.

During the event, the zone disbursed loans amounting to ₹117.24 crore and distributed sanction letters worth ₹115.00 crore to beneficiaries. The zone's agricultural business portfolio stands at ₹6,377 crore, serving over 3.14 lakh farmers across 11 districts in Andhra Pradesh.

Bank officials also felicitated progressive farmers, encouraging them to adopt modern technology, utilise Kisan Credit Cards, and enrol in crop insurance schemes to ensure sustainable agricultural growth.
