Arunachal Floods: 30 Airlifted, 4 Missing After Flash Floods and Landslides

At least 30 people, including stranded tourists and hospital patients, were airlifted on Thursday as flooding and landslides hit multiple districts of Arunachal Pradesh. Search operations are ongoing for four people reported missing after flash floods in Keyi Panyor district.

The state disaster management authority confirmed that 16 stranded individuals, one patient and two attendants were evacuated from Keyi Panyor. In Lower Subansiri district, 11 stranded people, two patients and one attendant were rescued using helicopters from the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the state civil aviation department.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu provided an update on Thursday afternoon, stating that 14 stranded tourists were airlifted from Ziro to Naharlagun, while evacuation of another 11 tourists and one patient from Daporijo was underway. A total of five helicopter sorties were conducted by the IAF and the state's civil aviation department. On the ground, two key road blockages, including the stretch near Possa Bridge, have been cleared, improving access to affected areas.

The government continues to monitor the flood situation closely and coordinate rescue and relief efforts. No further casualties have been reported as of now.
