Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami on UK extradition warrant over rape, trafficking charges
Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on Saturday, March 15, 2025, following a sealed warrant issued by the United States Marshals Service at the request of British authorities. The UK is seeking their extradition on charges including rape, human trafficking, and other offenses.
Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 38, are dual British and US citizens who gained prominence through online content promoting wealth and traditional gender roles. They face 38 new charges from the UK Crown Prosecution Service, related to four additional victims, on top of earlier charges involving three women announced in 2025. The alleged crimes took place in the Bedfordshire area, north of London, between 2010 and 2017.
According to the UK's Crown Prosecution Service, the brothers face charges of rape and human trafficking. Andrew Tate also faces an additional charge of profiting from prostitution, as well as 19 charges related to indecent images of children and extreme pornography. Bedfordshire Police said the investigation demonstrates that there is no place for violence against women and girls, and pledged ongoing support for victims.
The brothers moved to Romania in 2016 and were arrested there in 2022 on separate allegations of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, which they denied. That case stalled due to legal and procedural issues. They were allowed to leave Romania last year and flew to Florida on a private jet. They are expected to appear in Miami federal court early next week.
Attorney Joseph McBride, representing the brothers, called the new UK charges “filth and slander” and said they were designed to derail defamation lawsuits the brothers have filed in the US. He expressed confidence that the brothers would be cleared once a judge reviews the facts.
The Tates have consistently denied all allegations of abuse and trafficking. Andrew Tate gained attention on the UK reality show “Big Brother” in 2016 but was removed after a video appeared to show him assaulting a woman. He has built a following of more than 10 million on X while being banned from YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram for violating hate speech rules. Both brothers are vocal supporters of US President Donald Trump.
