Andhra Pradesh: YSRCP Protests Alleged DSC Irregularities, Demands Minister's Resignation
The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) intensified its statewide agitation on Tuesday over alleged irregularities in the Mega DSC-2025 teacher recruitment process. Coordinated demonstrations were held across Andhra Pradesh under the banner of the party's student and youth wings, with protests reported in Vijayawada, Nellore, Tirupati, Nandyal, and several other districts. In Narasannapeta, police prevented a proposed rally, citing prohibitory orders on large public gatherings, leading to tense scenes.
Protesters demanded the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh, holding him morally accountable for the alleged irregularities. They also called for a CBI probe into the recruitment process, claiming question paper leaks, irregularities in Sports Quota appointments, and denial of opportunities to deserving candidates. Other issues raised included the NEET paper leak controversy, pending fee reimbursement dues exceeding Rs. 7,000 crore, and the coalition government's failure to deliver on its promise of providing unemployment allowance.
In Vijayawada, a large rally organised by the YSRCP student and youth wings marched from Sambamurthy Nagar to Dharna Chowk. The protest was led by NTR district president Devineni Avinash, former minister Vellampalli Srinivas, former MLA Malladi Vishnu, Monditoka Jagan Mohan Rao, Tanneru Nageswara Rao, Swamy Das, MLC Ruhullah, former Mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi, and Students Wing State Working President Ravichandra.
In Nellore, hundreds of students and youth marched from the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue to Gandhi Bomma Centre, demanding Lokesh's resignation and justice for unemployed youth. Former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy, former MLAs Sanjeevaiah, Nedurumalli Ram Kumar Reddy, and Anam Vijay Kumar Reddy led the protest.
Addressing demonstrators in Tirupati, former minister R.K. Roja reiterated the demand for Lokesh's resignation and a CBI inquiry into the alleged recruitment scam. She accused the government of allowing paper leaks and irregular Sports Quota appointments, criticised the delay in fee reimbursement and unemployment allowance, and asserted that the agitation would continue until those responsible were held accountable.
In Nandyal, YSRCP leaders, students, and unemployed youth staged a rally demanding Lokesh's resignation over the alleged Mega DSC irregularities. Protesters condemned the reported question paper leak and alleged irregularities in Sports Quota recruitment. Katasani Ram Bhupal Reddy, Rami Reddy, and MLC Isaq Basha participated in the demonstration.
Meanwhile, Narasannapeta witnessed a standoff after police prevented a proposed YSRCP student-youth rally. Hundreds of students and youth from four mandals, led by Dr. Dharmana Krishna Chaitanya, had assembled to take out a convoy of nearly 50 vehicles before police intervened. Dr. Krishna Chaitanya demanded written reasons for the restrictions, while YSRCP leaders accused the police of suppressing democratic protests. Police said the action was taken to maintain public order under prohibitory orders.
The party said the statewide agitation would continue, with additional protests planned in other districts.
