Adhesive Gel Pack Found in Food Served on Vande Bharat Express; IRCTC Investigates

A passenger travelling on the Vande Bharat Express from Mysuru to Chennai reported finding an adhesive gel packet in the food tray served by the IRCTC canteen. The incident occurred on Sunday, aboard train number 20608.

D. Sekhar, a resident of Kathirvedu, said he and other passengers were shocked to discover the gel pack along with the meal. They immediately informed the ticket checker and submitted a written complaint, calling it a serious lapse by the food contractor that could have posed a health risk.

A senior official of Southern Railway confirmed that the matter has been reported to the IRCTC team and the South Western Railway for further investigation. No injuries were reported.

The IRCTC has been tasked with ensuring food quality and safety on trains. This incident has raised concerns about food handling procedures on premium services like Vande Bharat Express.
