ACB Nabs Andhra Endowments Official for Demanding ₹25,000 Bribe
On Friday, officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested G. Mallikarjuna Prasad, Assistant Commissioner in the District Endowments Office, Anantapuramu, on charges of accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 from a complainant.
According to an ACB release, the official had demanded the bribe for processing a cheque of ₹2 lakh sanctioned by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Srivani Trust for the construction of the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple at Cherlopalli village in Pulluru mandal.
Mr. Prasad joined government service as an attender on compassionate grounds in 1984 and was subsequently promoted to the posts of Junior Assistant, Senior Assistant, Superintendent, and finally Assistant Commissioner in 2009.
The accused will be produced before the ACB Special Court, and further investigation is underway, the ACB stated.
