AAP plans national signature campaign demanding action in Ram Temple donation case
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will launch a nationwide signature campaign on Sunday, demanding strict action against those allegedly involved in the misappropriation of funds meant for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The party has also accused the central government of protecting the individuals responsible.
As part of the campaign, AAP is circulating a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which it plans to have signed by citizens across India. The draft of the letter, shared by the party, states that it appears authorities are attempting to shield the powerful while low-level workers have been arrested. It urges the Prime Minister to ensure that those guilty are punished.
“Eight junior workers have been arrested, but efforts are being made to shield the powerful. The SIT and FIR seem to be an attempt to mislead the public and bury the matter,” the draft claims.
AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced that the party will begin the campaign after a recitation of the Sunderkand from the Ramayana at a park in Rohini, Delhi. He appealed to devotees of Lord Ram to attend in large numbers and support the demand for justice.
The signature campaign is the latest move by AAP to target the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Modi over the alleged financial irregularities in the Ram Temple construction fund.
