32 in Kakinada Recover After Suspected Food Poisoning from Vendor Snacks

KAKINADA: The health condition of 32 individuals who developed diarrhoea after consuming snacks from a local vendor in Dugguduru village, Kajuluru mandal, is now stable, according to district health officials.

The incident occurred on June 28, when the victims fell ill within minutes of eating the snacks. They were immediately treated at the Dugguduru Primary Health Centre.

Kakinada District Medical and Health Officer Dr. K. Narasimha Naik confirmed on Monday that all 32 patients are out of danger and recovering well. A health survey is ongoing in the village to identify any additional cases, he added.

The Medical and Health Services department, along with Food Safety officials, have collected samples of the food items from the vendor's store for laboratory analysis. Preliminary investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the illness.

Local authorities have urged residents to exercise caution when consuming food from unregulated vendors and to report any similar symptoms promptly.
