YSRCP demands high-level probe into alleged irregularities in DSC teacher recruitment
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders on Monday staged a massive protest in Palasa of Srikakulam district, demanding a high-level inquiry into alleged irregularities in the District Selection Committee (DSC) teacher recruitment conducted by the N. Chandrababu Naidu-led government in Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking at the protest, YSRCP State secretary and Palasa in-charge Yenni Dhanunjaya Rao said the government had not disclosed the merit list and had ignored the reservation policy while selecting candidates. He also alleged that several ineligible persons were given teaching jobs under the sports quota, raising doubts among candidates across the State.
"Avinash, a candidate from Krishna district, scored the highest marks but was not given a job. Thousands of students like Avinash failed to get jobs due to lack of transparency in the recruitment process," Rao said.
The YSRCP, which is the principal opposition party in Andhra Pradesh, has been criticising the TDP government over various issues since it came to power in 2024. The DSC recruitment is a key process for filling teacher vacancies in government schools, and any irregularity affects the education system and the careers of aspiring teachers.
Rao said he would submit a detailed report on the candidates' grievances to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy within a couple of days. The report is expected to include specific instances of alleged manipulation and requests for corrective action.
The protest comes amid growing concerns among DSC aspirants about transparency and fairness in the selection process. Several candidates have previously raised similar complaints, but this is the first organised political protest on the issue by the YSRCP in the region.
Neither the State government nor the officials concerned have responded to the allegations so far. The claims made by the YSRCP are yet to be independently verified, and the government has not issued any statement regarding the demand for a probe.
Education experts say that recruitment processes for teachers must be conducted in a fair and transparent manner to ensure that only deserving candidates are appointed. Any doubt about the process can undermine public confidence in the system.
The YSRCP has said it will continue to press for a high-level investigation until the government takes action. The party is likely to raise the issue in the next session of the State Assembly as well.
