We Owe Students More Than Outrage: Pradhan Slams Congress Over Education Protest
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday criticised the Congress party's protest over education-related issues, stating that students deserve constructive action rather than political outrage.
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Pradhan said, 'We owe students more than outrage. They need solutions, not slogans.' He accused the opposition of using student grievances for political mileage without offering concrete alternatives.
The Congress party had staged a protest demanding better management of examinations and addressing student concerns. Pradhan, however, maintained that the government has implemented several reforms to improve the education system.
'Our government has taken steps to ensure fairness in exams, skill development, and access to quality education for all. Protests that disrupt academic schedules are counterproductive,' he added.
The minister also highlighted initiatives such as the National Education Policy 2020, which aims to transform the learning landscape. He called for a constructive dialogue between students and policymakers.
Congress leaders, however, dismissed Pradhan's comments as an attempt to deflect from unresolved issues. Party spokesperson said that the government must address the root causes of student distress rather than attacking those who raise concerns.
The exchange comes amid ongoing debates over examination reforms, fee structures, and campus placements. Both sides have urged students to participate responsibly in democratic processes.
