Wayanad Landslide Rescue: Priyanka Gandhi Says All Efforts Underway

Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has stated that all possible efforts are being made to rescue individuals still trapped following a landslide in the region. In a social media post, she confirmed that Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan is personally overseeing the relief operations, with the police and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deployed at the site.

Ms. Vadra also noted that State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams and civil defence volunteers have reached the affected area. She said, “We are all coordinating with the district administration, Ministers T. Siddique and A.P. Anil Kumar, who are on their way from Thiruvananthapuram, local party functionaries and the agencies concerned.”

She expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident. The Congress leader appealed to United Democratic Front (UDF) workers, functionaries, and the public to extend all possible support while strictly following the administration’s guidelines. “At a time like this, we need to ensure that relief and rescue efforts are not hampered and we ensure all possible help without causing any distractions,” she added.

The landslide, which occurred in the hilly terrain of Wayanad district, has prompted a multi-agency response. While the exact number of trapped individuals remains unclear, authorities are working to clear debris and locate survivors. Further updates are expected as operations continue.
