Uttar Pradesh: Two Dead, 16 Injured as School Bus Rams Tractor-Trolley in Mathura
Two women were killed and 16 others injured after a school bus collided with a tractor-trolley from behind on Friday in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district, police said.
The accident occurred around 1 pm near Birhana village under the Raya police station limits. The tractor-trolley was carrying 20–25 people to a condolence meeting of their relative, according to District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh.
Eyewitnesses reported that the collision caused the tractor-trolley to overturn. The deceased were identified as Shashi, 42, and Rajni, 32, both residents of Bharatpur, Rajasthan. They were declared brought dead at the district hospital, said Chief Medical Superintendent Neeraj Agrawal.
The injured were admitted to the district hospital in Mathura and are reported to be out of danger. Two critically injured persons were referred to SN Medical College in Agra for specialised treatment, the district magistrate added.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences and directed officials to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured. Police have launched an investigation and initiated legal proceedings to determine the cause of the accident.
Circle Officer (Mahavan) Sanjeev Kumar Rai confirmed that all school children travelling in the bus were safe. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.
