Uttar Pradesh Students Rally for Investigation into Lekhpal Exam Irregularities and Recruitment Reforms
Students and job seekers from Uttar Pradesh staged a protest rally in Prayagraj on Monday, demanding a thorough investigation into alleged irregularities in the recently conducted Lekhpal recruitment examination. The demonstration was organised under the banner of 'Pratiyogi Chhatra Hunkar Manch', a platform for aspirants of competitive recruitment examinations.
The protesters also called for a reduction in the cutoff marks for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET), timely completion of pending recruitments, greater transparency in recruitment commissions including the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), regular dialogue with authorities, and comprehensive administrative reforms in the recruitment process.
In a statement, the organisation said: “The demand for comprehensive reforms in the examination and recruitment system will intensify across the country. Our demands include a fair investigation into the Lekhpal paper leak case, implementation of the principle of 'minimum cutoff, maximum opportunity' by reducing the cutoff for PET.”
Additionally, the group demanded an impartial inquiry into alleged excesses by law enforcement agencies during the July 20 'Chalo Sansad' march in New Delhi. They called for legal action against those responsible, protection of democratic rights of peaceful student protesters, and accountability in exam irregularities and paper leak cases at the national level.
“The students’ movement is not against any individual, but in support of a transparent, fair and accountable exam and recruitment system,” the Pratiyogi Chhatra Hunkar Manch stated.
