Uttar Pradesh Braces for More Rain as IMD Warns of Widespread Thundershowers
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread thundershowers across Uttar Pradesh over the next few days, with heavy rain expected in isolated areas. The warning comes after 24 hours of rainfall recorded across various parts of the state until Tuesday evening.
In Prayagraj, a brief spell of rain led to waterlogging on key roads and commercial areas, disrupting normal life. Waterlogged roads in areas like Rambagh caused significant inconvenience to commuters.
Officials in Bareilly have set up 49 flood posts and 27 relief camps as the water level of the Ramganga river rose. Similarly, authorities in Gonda district have increased vigilance along the Ghagra and Saryu embankments due to rising water levels.
According to IMD data, the maximum rainfall of 33.2 mm was recorded in Churk, followed by Kanpur (22 mm), Jhansi (19.2 mm), and Hamirpur (11 mm). The weather office has urged residents to remain cautious as more rain is expected.
