US Strikes Iran for Third Night, Trump Says Deal Still Possible
The United States launched a fresh series of strikes against Iran early Tuesday, marking the third consecutive night of military action in the escalating conflict. The strikes, carried out by U.S. Central Command, targeted Iranian forces in the region, according to official statements.
In a radio interview with conservative host Hugh Hewitt on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated, “We’re going to hit them very hard tonight, and we’re going to hit them hard tomorrow.” However, he also indicated that a diplomatic resolution remained possible, saying a deal with Tehran was still on the table.
Oil prices surged more than 9% amid fears of a prolonged conflict, raising concerns about global economic stability. The Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway for oil shipments, has been a focal point of tensions.
U.S. Central Command said in a statement, “These strikes will continue imposing a heavy cost on Iranian forces and degrade their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.” The command did not provide details on specific targets or casualties.
The renewed hostilities follow a period of relative calm after a ceasefire that had been in place. Analysts note that the situation remains volatile, with both sides signaling readiness for further escalation or negotiation. Iran has not yet publicly responded to the latest strikes or Trump’s offer of a deal.
