UPSC Mains 2026: DAF Application Window Opens June 19–28
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has opened the Detailed Application Form (DAF) submission process for candidates who qualified in the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026. Eligible candidates must complete the application on the official portal between June 19 and June 28, 2026. Submission of the DAF is mandatory to appear in the UPSC Civil Services Main Examination 2026.
The DAF window allows shortlisted candidates to submit or reconfirm their details, pay the examination fee, update scribe information, request assistive devices or large-font question papers, and fill in cadre preferences. The commission has clarified that e-Admit Cards for the Main Examination will only be issued after successful DAF submission. Candidates who fail to complete the process by the deadline will not be permitted to take the exam.
Female, SC, ST, and PwBD candidates are exempt from the ₹200 examination fee, while others must pay during submission. The Main Examination consists of nine papers: two qualifying papers (Indian Language and English, 300 marks each) and seven merit-based papers (total 1,750 marks) including an Essay, four General Studies, and two Optional Subject papers (250 marks each). Candidates who clear the written exam will be invited for the Personality Test (Interview, 275 marks). The Main Examination begins on August 21, 2026.
To apply, candidates should visit upsconline.nic.in, log in, verify personal and educational information, update category and reservation details, fill cadre preferences, provide scribe or assistive device details if needed, pay the fee (if applicable), review all details, submit, and save the confirmation page. Further instructions will be released with the e-Admit Card.
