UP Government Forms New SIT to Investigate Ram Temple Donation Theft; IG Kiran S to Lead

The Uttar Pradesh government has reconstituted the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Inspector General of Police Kiran S has been appointed to lead the new SIT, replacing the earlier team.

The decision comes amid public outcry over the reported misappropriation of funds collected for the construction of the Ram Temple. The original SIT, formed earlier this year, faced criticism for lack of progress and transparency.

The new SIT will re-examine all evidence and statements related to the case. It includes officers from the state police's economic offences wing and forensic experts. The team has been directed to submit a preliminary report within 30 days.

The alleged theft involves crores of rupees donated by devotees for the temple's construction. The Ram Temple Trust has denied any wrongdoing, stating that all donations are accounted for.

The UP government stated that the reconstitution aims to ensure a fair and thorough investigation. IG Kiran S, a senior IPS officer known for handling high-profile cases, has been tasked with restoring public confidence in the probe.
