UGC-NET Re-Exam Admit Cards Released for English, Commerce, Sociology on Sept 9-10
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the admit cards for the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) June 2026 re-examination for three subjects — English, Commerce, and Sociology. The exams are scheduled to be held on September 9 and 10 across the country.
Candidates who have registered for these papers can download their admit cards, along with the undertaking, from the official website ugcnet.nta.nic.in using their application number and date of birth. The NTA has advised all candidates to read the instructions on the admit card carefully. This includes essential details such as the reporting time, items permitted inside the examination centre, dress code, and other guidelines that must be followed on the day of the test.
In case candidates face any difficulty in downloading the admit card or notice any discrepancy in the information printed on it, they are advised to contact the NTA helpdesk at 011-40759000 or write to ugcnet@nta.ac.in for assistance. Officials have also said that the candidates were already informed about their examination city and date through the Advance City Intimation Slip, which was issued on September 1.
The re-examination for the three subjects was announced after the NTA received several complaints regarding errors in the question papers. The testing agency constituted a committee to examine the reported errors. The committee found that the papers for English, Commerce, and Sociology contained multiple factual, typographical, and translation mistakes. These included misspelled names of prominent scholars, garbled book titles, inaccuracies in the wording of question stems, grammatical errors, gender and number agreement errors, punctuation mistakes, and non-standard coined terms for established concepts. It also found that a significant number of questions had been repeated from previously administered examinations.
The committee recommended that, in the interest of conducting a fair and error-free examination, the three papers should be re-conducted. Acting on this recommendation, the NTA decided to hold a fresh test for the affected subjects. The results for the remaining 84 of the 87 subjects under UGC-NET June 2026 were already declared on August 28.
Candidates appearing for the re-examination are advised to regularly check the official website for further updates and announcements. They should keep their admit card and a valid photo identification document ready for verification at the examination centre. Any change in the schedule or additional instructions, if any, will be communicated through the official portal.
