UGC NET June 2026 Answer Key Likely Today, Check Steps and Marking Scheme

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the provisional answer key for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2026 session today, August 16. According to an official notice, the answer key will be made available this week. Candidates who appeared for the examination should keep their login credentials ready and monitor the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in, for updates.

The UGC NET June 2026 exam was conducted from June 22 to June 30, with a re-examination for eligible candidates held on July 5. Along with the provisional answer key, the NTA will also publish the question paper and the candidates' response sheets. This will allow candidates to verify their answers and estimate their scores before the final results are announced.

Candidates will have a designated window to challenge the provisional answers. Any objections raised will be reviewed by subject experts, and if found valid, the answer key may be revised accordingly. The final score of candidates will be calculated based on the revised answer key after the challenge process is complete.

How to Download the UGC NET Answer Key 2026

To access the provisional answer key, candidates can follow these steps:

  • Visit the official website: ugcnet.nta.nic.in
  • Click on the link for the UGC NET June 2026 answer key.
  • Select the login option using application number and password, or application number and date of birth.
  • Enter the required details along with the security pin.
  • Click on ‘Sign In’ to view the answer key.
  • Download the answer key, response sheet, and question paper for future reference.

Marking Scheme and Score Calculation

The marking scheme for UGC NET awards two marks for each correct answer. There is no negative marking for incorrect responses. Candidates can calculate their expected score using the provisional answer key with the formula: Expected score = Number of correct answers × 2.

It is important to note that the expected score may change after the NTA reviews challenges submitted by candidates. The final score will be based on the revised answer key, which will be used for the declaration of results.

Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website for the latest updates regarding the answer key, objection window, and result announcement.
