Udayagiri Wooden Cutlery, Etikoppaka Toys Among 99 ODOP Products from Andhra Pradesh

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that 99 products have been identified from 26 districts of Andhra Pradesh under the One District-One Product (ODOP) scheme. The products include 26 primary, 26 secondary, 21 tertiary, and 26 category products, responding to a question raised by Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy.

Specifically, for Nellore district, Udayagiri wooden cutlery (primary) and Paturu cotton silk sarees (secondary) were identified. For Anakapalli district, Etikoppaka lacquerware/wooden toys (primary), palm leaf products (secondary), and Payakaraopeta silk sarees (tertiary) were listed.

Mr. Prasada noted that about 100 handloom weavers are engaged in weaving Payakaraopeta silk sarees. Since the product's inclusion under ODOP, a production value of ₹10.08 crore has been reported under the Handlooms and Textiles Department. The Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. organizes district and state-level exhibitions and conducts training programs for promotion.

Various steps have been taken to enhance product visibility internationally, including engagement with the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian missions abroad, virtual buyer-seller meets, and participation in international exhibitions. ODOP products have also been included for gifting at multilateral and bilateral meetings in India to popularize them globally.

Additionally, the state government informed that National Handloom Expos and State Level Handloom Expos have been conducted under the Handloom Marketing Assistance component of the National Handloom Development Programme to provide marketing facilities.
