Two Militants Believed Hiding After Shopian Gunfight, Security Forces Intensify Search

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district intensified search operations in Chanapora village on Sunday, a day after a brief gunfight with militants. A joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, and paramilitary forces tightened their cordon around the area, believing two militants remain hidden in the dense orchards.

The operation began on Saturday evening following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area. A brief exchange of fire occurred between the security forces and the militants, after which the forces secured the perimeter. No casualties have been reported so far.

Police sources said that two militants are believed to be hiding, and search operations are continuing. The area has been sealed, and security forces are conducting thorough searches to neutralise any threat.

This incident is part of ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the Kashmir Valley. The region has witnessed periodic violence, with security forces regularly conducting cordon-and-search operations based on intelligence inputs.
