Two children drown in rain waterlogging in Ghaziabad, Delhi

A three-year-old girl in Ghaziabad and a seven-year-old boy in Delhi drowned in accumulated rainwater on Thursday as heavy showers caused waterlogging in both cities.

Police said the girl, Manvi, from Sarvodaya Nagar in Ghaziabad, went missing after her father left the house. Family members searched for her and found her drowned in knee-deep water outside their home about ten minutes later.

In Delhi's Samaypur Badli area, a seven-year-old boy also drowned in waterlogged streets. Officers are investigating the incident.

The Ghaziabad family said water had filled their house due to overnight rain. While the mother was cleaning, the toddler wandered outside and disappeared. The mother later spotted the child's hand in the accumulated water.

The rains, part of a seasonal weather pattern, caused widespread waterlogging in low-lying areas of both cities, disrupting traffic and daily life. Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors and avoid waterlogged areas.
