Two Arrested in Connection with Firing Outside Gym Linked to Singer Guru Randhawa

Two men, alleged to be associates of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, have been arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with a firing incident outside a gym in Paschim Vihar, outer Delhi. The gym is reported to be linked to popular Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of June 11, drew significant attention after a social media post purportedly from a gang member claimed responsibility.

According to police, the arrested individuals have been identified as Arman, 19, and Tushar alias Tashu alias Pinku, 21, both residents of Sonipat district, Haryana. They were apprehended on June 15 in Bahadurgarh following a manhunt that involved reconstructing the escape route and analysing technical evidence over nearly 100 kilometres.

The police stated that around 4 am on June 11, two motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire outside a gym located on the Outer Ring Road in Paschim Vihar. No one was injured in the shooting, and the attackers fled immediately. Seven empty cartridges were recovered from the scene. A case was registered at the Paschim Vihar East police station.

After the incident, a social media post attributed to Anil Pandit, an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang believed to be operating from the United States, went viral. In the post, Pandit claimed responsibility for the attack on behalf of the gang. The post also mentioned that the gym was associated with Guru Randhawa and referred to the singer’s purported proximity to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, whom the gang considers an adversary. The police said they are verifying the authenticity of the post and its claims.

Owing to the possible involvement of an organised crime syndicate, the Delhi Police Crime Branch took over the investigation. Their probe led to the identification of four suspects: Sahil, Sagar, Arman, and Tushar. While Arman and Tushar were arrested, Sahil and Sagar remain at large. Police revealed that Arman is a cousin of the two absconding suspects.

One of the arrested men, Tushar, had returned from Russia less than two weeks before the incident. He had travelled to Russia on a study visa and was working there. Investigators suspect that soon after his return, he contacted Sahil and Sagar and became involved in the alleged conspiracy. The police are interrogating the accused to uncover the broader network behind the attack and to trace the weapon used in the crime. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has been linked to a series of high-profile crimes in recent years. The police are investigating whether the firing was intended as a warning or had any other motive. The accused are currently in police custody and further details are awaited.
