Trainee IPS Officer Booked for Sexual Harassment, Assault of Fellow Trainee at Hyderabad Academy
Hyderabad: The Attapur police have registered a case against a trainee Indian Police Service (IPS) officer following a complaint by a fellow woman trainee alleging sexual harassment, assault, and criminal intimidation at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Shivarampally.
The accused, identified as Uday Krishna Reddy, is a trainee IPS officer. According to police sources, the complaint states that the alleged harassment began in late June and continued for several weeks. The woman alleged that Reddy sent her sexually abusive messages and made derogatory remarks about her in front of other trainees.
Further, she accused Reddy of physically and sexually assaulting her. The complaint also includes an allegation that Reddy recorded a private video of her without consent and sent it to her husband in an attempt to blackmail her. Additionally, the woman claimed that Reddy spread false and derogatory information about her to damage her reputation.
Based on the complaint, the Attapur police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those pertaining to sexual harassment, assault, and criminal intimidation. An investigation has been launched.
The SVPNPA is the premier training institution for IPS officers in India. This incident has raised concerns about the safety and conduct of trainees at the academy. The police are proceeding with the investigation in accordance with the law.
