Three Indian shuttlers storm into US Open badminton semifinals

Thailand Masters winner Devika Sihag upset third seed Riko Gunji of Japan, while Rounak Chouhan continued his impressive run to reach the semifinals of the US Open badminton tournament in Fullerton, California, on Friday.

Devika kept her composure in the closing stages of both games to defeat Gunji 22-20, 21-19 in the women's singles quarterfinals. Chouhan, meanwhile, dispatched Israel's Misha Zilberman 23-21, 21-11 in just 38 minutes to book his first BWF World Tour Super 300 men's singles semifinal.

Later, former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth defeated Liao Jhuo-Fu of Chinese Taipei 21-9, 12-21, 21-8 in another quarterfinal, raising the prospect of an all-Indian final on Sunday.

In the semifinals, Chouhan will face eighth seed Su Li Yang of Chinese Taipei, while Srikanth takes on fourth seed Yudai Okimoto of Japan. Devika will meet second seed Line Christophersen of Denmark, who earlier overcame India's Tanvi Sharma 21-16, 11-21, 21-11 in the quarterfinals.

Another Indian, Rakshitha Sree, lost her quarterfinal 15-21, 21-16, 21-12 to Canada's Rachel Chan.
