Three Bambiha gang operatives deported from Malaysia in coordinated crackdown

In a coordinated operation against the Bambiha criminal network, Indian agencies have secured the deportation of three of its key overseas operatives from Malaysia. The individuals, who were allegedly involved in orchestrating hits and extortion activities in India on behalf of gang leader Lucky Patial, were brought back to face legal proceedings.

The action was announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on social media platform X on Monday. The deportees have been identified as Jaspreet Singh, alias Jas Behbal, a resident of Faridkot, and Ajay Singh, alias Ajay Malaysia, and Pawandeep Singh, both from Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district.

According to Shah's statement, Indian agencies facilitated the apprehension and deportation of the three absconding gangsters. The minister noted that the fugitives are linked to the Bambiha gang and are accused of multiple crimes, including extortion, cross-border arms and narco-trafficking, and a foiled grenade attack in Ludhiana. He also highlighted that the deportation of these individuals is part of a larger effort, with agencies having facilitated the deportation of 51 hardened criminals in 2026 alone.

The Bambiha gang has been under scrutiny by law enforcement agencies for its involvement in violent crimes, extortion rackets, and illicit trafficking across state and international borders. The coordinated operation reflects increased collaboration between Indian investigative agencies and international partners to dismantle criminal networks operating from foreign soil.

Officials familiar with the development stated that the three individuals were wanted in multiple cases registered in Punjab and other states. Their deportation is expected to aid ongoing investigations into the gang's activities, including its funding channels and operational links abroad.

This move is part of a broader strategy by the central government to crack down on organized crime and ensure that fugitives evading Indian law are brought to justice.
