Three Arrested in Mysuru Gang-Rape of Migrant Worker

Three men have been arrested in connection with the alleged gang-rape and robbery of a 30-year-old woman in Mysuru district, police said on Monday. The victim, a migrant worker from Bengal, works at a fast-food outlet in the area.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident occurred on Saturday night around 9:45 pm while the woman was walking home after attending a function. The accused men stopped their car beside her under the pretext of asking for directions, then forcibly pushed her into the vehicle, where they sexually assaulted her and robbed her, police said.

The arrested individuals have been remanded in judicial custody, and an investigation is ongoing. A senior police officer involved in the case stated, 'We are continuing the investigation to establish the sequence of events and are also verifying whether the accused have any previous criminal antecedents or are involved in similar offences.'

Authorities have not released further details at this stage to protect the victim's privacy and ensure a fair investigation. The case highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of women, particularly migrant workers, in urban areas. Local civic groups have called for improved street lighting and police patrols in the vicinity.
