Three Arrested in Mangaluru for Allegedly Facilitating Illegal Bangladeshi Immigration

Mangaluru police have arrested three men accused of facilitating the entry and employment of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the city, officials said on Tuesday. The arrests come a day after 11 alleged Bangladeshi nationals were detained from construction sites in the coastal Karnataka city.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Moyiddin Islam, Dilawar Hussain, and Rasul Islam, all residents of West Bengal. According to police, they brought workers from northern states to Mangaluru for construction work and, while claiming to arrange employment for Indian labourers, also allegedly facilitated the movement of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

With these arrests, the total number of alleged illegal Bangladeshis identified in Mangaluru recently has risen to 19. The police are also examining whether there are other illegal immigrants elsewhere in Karnataka's coastal region.

Investigations revealed that the 11 individuals detained on Monday had entered the country without valid documents and later obtained identity documents showing West Bengal addresses. Among them, four are minors. The police are working to verify their backgrounds and determine the extent of the network.

The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts by local authorities to address concerns about illegal immigration and document fraud. Further investigations are underway.
