Thoothukudi Raid: Eight Country-Made Bombs Seized from Suspect's Home

Thoothukudi South police seized eight country-made bombs from the residence of an accused currently in judicial custody, officials said on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Ajith Kumar, 23, a resident of Anna Nagar in Thoothukudi, is a known criminal offender. He and his accomplice were arrested on July 3 in connection with another case. During interrogation, Kumar provided information that led police to search his house.

The search yielded eight country-made bombs, prompting the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad to be called to the scene. Following standard safety protocols, the bombs were safely secured and taken into police custody.

Police have not disclosed the nature of the other case in which Kumar was arrested, nor the intended use of the bombs. Further investigation is underway to determine if the explosives were linked to any larger criminal activity.

Country-made bombs, often crude and unpredictable, pose significant risks to public safety. The successful recovery underscores ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to curb illegal weaponry and explosives in the region.
